lyrics

Take me down to that river cold
That flows so deep and wide
For I have heard of another better land
That is over, and on the other side

And I have heard of a bridge of gold
With arches proud and tall
But no trace can be seen of that way a man could cross
And I wonder, was it ever there at all

And I have heard of a fearsome ferryman
Who plies the waters there
And they say if you paid him everything you owned
Yet still you would not have paid his fare

So take me down to that river cold
I'll dive into the blue
And if I have the strength to cross and reach that land
Then surely I will see those tales were true
